2026 Federal Tax Brackets for Paycheck Withholding
See how the 2026 IRS Publication 15-T percentage method tables are used for federal paycheck withholding, then apply the same estimate with the PaycheckDB calculator.
2026 federal withholding
The federal engine uses the standard annual percentage method schedules from IRS Publication 15-T for 2026. The calculator annualizes wages, applies W-4 adjustments, subtracts Step 3 credits, and divides withholding by the selected number of pay periods.
2026 percentage method tables, biweekly, married filing jointly
For a married filing jointly employee paid biweekly, payroll annualizes taxable wages, applies the annual percentage method table for married filers, subtracts W-4 credits, and divides the result across 26 paychecks. This is regular paycheck withholding; separately paid bonuses can instead use the supplemental wage method.
Federal withholding is only one line in a paycheck. FICA, state tax, local wage tax, SDI or paid leave programs, pre-tax deductions, and post-tax deductions can all change net pay.
Use the paycheck calculator with these tables
After reviewing the withholding method, try the 2026 paycheck calculator to estimate take-home pay using pay frequency, W-4, state, and deduction inputs. The calculator remains an estimate; actual payroll may differ.
