Trust and transparency
Editorial Policy
How PaycheckDB reviews tax sources, labels calculator support levels, and updates 2026 paycheck assumptions.
Source policy
PaycheckDB prioritizes official federal and state sources: IRS publications, SSA wage base information, state revenue departments, state labor agencies, and payroll tax publications. Source cards on each page show which public references support the calculation notes.
Review status
Source links, editorial checks, and automated software tests do not equal professional tax or payroll review. PaycheckDB does not currently identify a CPA, enrolled agent, attorney, or qualified payroll professional as a reviewer or endorser of its calculations.
Support levels
Enhanced state pages include implemented state-specific logic. Basic pages include a simplified state model or clearly labeled support. Pending pages intentionally exclude unverified state withholding tables until the data is implemented and tested.
Correction process
When a source changes, the affected data file, calculation logic, automated tests, page copy, visible source card, and changelog should be reviewed together. Corrections should favor conservative labeling over overstated accuracy.
